Mixtapes – TWO of the Most Influential B’s in Music History (Session #2)
Saturday, January 18, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 8:45 pm$50
David Whitehill, Asheville Symphony’s Executive Director, will entertain you with special “mixtape” sessions to celebrate Beethoven’s 250th birthday in 2020. He will draw parallels between two of the most influential “B’s” in music history – Beethoven and ?? (Can you guess?) It will be a playful but informative session as David and several symphony musicians explore favorite works of both of these B’s.
Remember “mixtapes”? They were a thoughtful handmade gift of audiotapes compiled for friends featuring special artists and songs. These gifts have been supplanted by streaming, iPods, and the like in our digital age. The Asheville Symphony hasn’t forgotten the form. David has created a live mixtape curated and designed for the Beethoven celebration featuring ASO musicians that is sure to intrigue you! And who can that second “B” be?
There will be two sessions of these “mixtape” performances in the intimate upstairs lounge of West Asheville’s Isis Music Hall. Choose a 5:00 pm or 7:30 pm session. Only 50 guests will be able to attend each session, so don’t delay and be disappointed. Sign up now for the session that fits your schedule!
As a supplement, Isis Music Hall will offer dinner for session #1 and dessert ONLY for session #2. You must make your reservations DIRECTLY with Isis for our food option. Seating will be available at the bar if you do not want food.
