Please join us for this very informative and interesting Guild Program: “The Influence of Italy on Major Classical Composers” by Christine Schaffer. Christine Schaffer grew up outside of Washington, DC in a musical family. Her mother was a professional cellist (principal of the Honolulu Symphony) and her father was a talented amateur pianist. Christine is a graduate of the Catholic University of America and the University of Houston. Solo performances with orchestra include concerts with the Catholic University Orchestra, the University of Houston Orchestra, the Montgomery County Orchestra (MD), the Brazos Symphony Orchestra (TX), the National Symphony Orchestra (DC) and The Houston Symphony. In 1986, Christine joined the faculty of the Houston Community College, where she taught for 31 years and served as Chair of Fine Arts for ten of those years.
