It was only with the help of many wonderful volunteers that the Symphony Guild was able to accomplish all that we did in the 2017-2018 season. Thank you to all of the volunteers who make the Asheville Symphony Guild a wonderful and thriving organization! We would especially like to thank the following:
Musical Feast Committee and Hosts
The committee that organizes our Musical Feasts, chaired by Betty Fox, has outdone itself once again and we cannot thank the committee members enough: Beverly Briedis, Melinda Farr Brown, Jane Eudy, Bolling Farmer, Dick Hall, Yolanda Hall, Robin Harben, Beth Hunt, Gail Jolley, Doris Loomis, Sue Luther, Nan Murphy, Myra Ramsey, Victoria Remishofsky, Rose Rose, Fran Sandfort, Cori Saraceni, Diane Sharp, Yvonne Smith, and Olivia Zahler.
We also truly appreciate the numerous Musical Feast hosts who, in their dedication to raising funds for our symphony, planned and put on 24 incredible experiences for us over the past year!
Music in the Schools and Music Ambassadors Committee
These two committees, chaired by Victoria Remishofsky, once again brought musicians in to Buncombe County and Asheville City elementary schools, inspiring thousands of students. We all understand the importance of children being exposed to classical music and instruments, and this program does a phenomenal job of bringing the wonder of music to our students.
They are a very dedicated group of volunteers, who also help usher at Youth Orchestra Concerts, assist at student auditions, and work at other events when they are needed. Thanks to all of you who give of your time to help out: Susan Arnold, Anne Babcock, Bev Briedis, Gene Casey, Sylvia Cassel, Shelia Christofalos, Betty Fox, Lew Gelfond, Susan Jensen, Mary Kirby, Charlie Laiken, Ann McLellan, Ann McKenzie, Betty Paine, Gloria and Dan Pincu, Sarah Reincke, Barbara Rice, Bill Selden, Barbara Stickle, Sarah Van Gunten, Jane Verm, Deb Walker, Mary Williamson, and Olivia Zahler.
Pass the Hat Committee
Chaired by Sylvia Cassel and Susan Arnold, the Pass the Hat event helps fund the Guild’s Music in the Schools Program each year by raising funds at a fall concert.
Many thanks to Gary Coleman, Julian Biller, Beverly and Charles Briedis, Fred Cassel, Carol and Joel Cotter, Betty Fox, Lew Gelfond, Rise Hershoran, Cara Jenkins, Ellen Jensen, Susan Jensen, Mary Kirby, Charlie Laiken, Bebe Landis, Carol McCollum, Miriam McKinney, Janice Orson, Betty Paine, Gloria and Dan Pincu, Pat Reader, Victoria Remsihofsky, Barbara and Marty Stickle, Amanda Tant, Howard and Honey Solomon, Stan Taylor, Joyce and Robert Weinberg, Sarah Van Gunten, Deb Walker, and Mary Williamson.
Supporting Music in the Schools would not have been possible without the all-out effort of the many volunteers, adults, Symphonettes, and Prelude Orchestra students who worked at Pass the Hat and raised over $10,000 from generous, like-minded donors last fall.
Guild Program Hospitality Committee
Led by Chair Bebe Landis, this committee provided the delicious goodies for our Guild Programs this year. They were a special treat, in addition to getting to hear from all of our music director candidates.
Guild Officers and Committee Chairs
We appreciate you and all you do to help support our symphony orchestra! We especially thank Mary Kirby for two years of service to the Guild, as president-elect and then as president, and for her dedication to bringing us in to the 21st century! She has worked many, many hours getting our website up and running, allowing us to be more efficient and timely, and saving the Guild money.
To all of you who make the Asheville Symphony Guild so special, thank you!
