Guild Program – Welsh Music with Dr. James Cassarino

Dr. James Cassarino, Music Director and Chair of the Fine Arts Department, Organist, and Choirmaster at Christ School, is our guest speaker. Mr. Cassarino will make a presentation on Welsh Music. Prior to Christ School, Mr. Cassarino created a vibrant program at Green Mountain College in Rutland, Vermont. It included opportunities in choral and instrumental ensembles and course work in music and performance. He has studied widely and earned several degrees in music and theology–one of them from the University of Wales in the U.K.

Richard Schaffer, trumpet, graduated from the Eastman School of Music with a B.A. degree in Music Performance/Music Education. Upon graduation, Richard enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps for duty with the U.S. Marine Band in Washington, D.C. His very interesting career included performing for Presidents Kennedy and Johnson and providing orchestral, Broadway show music and dance music for evening events as well. Please join us MONDAY, April 28th at 10:00 a.m. for Mr. Schaffer’s personal anecdotes about these musical adventures and more–it should be very enlightening!
