All Fired Up! Gourmet Food Prepared Over an Open Fire
Saturday, June 6, 2020 @ 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm$90
Enjoy a delicious outdoor “Farm to Table” dinner prepared over an open fire by an internationally trained chef at The Farmer’s Hands Homestead. Chef Sebastian Zijp will prepare a gourmet dinner for us on his two-acre farm in Mars Hill, just 20 minutes from downtown Asheville.
Sebastian and his wife, Ariel, will welcome us to their 150-year-old farmstead where nearly 100 percent of the food served at his Farm to Table dinners is sourced. Have a glass of wine or beer while you stroll around the farm, mingle with fellow guests and watch Sebastian cook. Bluegrass musicians will add to the ambience at this lovely
setting. Dinner will be served family style on long wooden tables under an arbor festooned with high-hanging Edison bulbs.
Sebastian and Ariel pride themselves on following sustainable and organic practices while learning from the land. They try to grow all their own food and also support other local farmers. In addition to the dinners, Sebastian offers cooking classes on various topics: making pasta, cooking over a fire, and dishes from other cultures such as Spanish, Thai and Vietnamese. Their suppers and classes are frequently sold out, so take this opportunity to enjoy a “Farm to Table” experience at its best. All guests will receive a menu that includes Sebastian’s recipes to try at home.
