Musical Feast: An Elegant Evening with Our New Conductor

Friday, September 14, 2018 @ 6:30 pm

$125.00
  • « Symphony Talk: Darko Butorac with soloist George Li, piano (Wagner, Liszt, Shostakovich)
  • Concert: Masterworks 1 »

We have a lot to celebrate – our new music director, Darko Butorac (pronounced BOO-toh-rutz), is here to help us kick off the opening of our NEW season at last! Come help us welcome him to Asheville and our Symphony Orchestra. For this celebration, Doris and Ralph Loomis are opening their spacious and beautiful home in one of Asheville’s oldest and loveliest neighborhoods, Biltmore Forest.

As Darko said recently, “I am deeply honored to have been selected as the next Asheville Symphony music director. I felt the orchestra and I had a very special connection during my audition week and I am excited about getting to know the orchestra members better. I very much look forward to getting to know the vibrant Asheville community, and to exploring its beautiful surroundings.”

Come share a special evening with your hosts and our conductor as we embark on this new connection. Darko will explain how his musical journey brought him to Asheville, and his plans for the Asheville Symphony Orchestra in the coming year. The menu, created by your hosts, will feature a table laden with a delectable variety of tasty hors d’oeuvres followed by sumptuous desserts, as well as champagne, wine and coffee.

We invite you to “dine” with Darko, supporting our fantastic orchestra and toasting our new leader as we kick off another season of Masterworks concerts.
