You don’t want to miss this discussion by Evan Baker, November 17th, 10:00am, ASO Conference Room.  As a scholar specializing in the history of opera, he is the perfect speaker when the ASO will perform “Night at the Opera” on Saturday evening.

Evan Baker (PhD, 1993, New York University) is an independent scholar specializing in the history of opera and theatrical production and staging, theatre architecture and technology, and opera iconography. His most recent publication, From the Score to the Stage: An Illustrated History of Continental Opera Production and Staging (2013, University of Chicago Press) was recognized in 2014 by the Association of American Publishers as the best publication in Music and the Performing Arts.  Baker has lectured at numerous universities in the United States and Europe, and worked for many years in opera houses as well.
