Saturday, October 13, 2018 @ 8:00 pm

  • « Symphony Talk: Darko Butorac with soloist Adele Anthony, violin (Beethoven, Mozart, Schumann)
  • Musical Feast: Wine, Roses and Ruiz »

Darko Butorac, conductor
Adele Anthony, violin

Beethoven  Egmont Overture
Mozart  Violin Concerto No. 5, “Turkish”
Schumann  Symphony No. 4

In an evening of Austrian and German delights, the Asheville Symphony presents a program featuring Mozart’s “Turkish” Violin Concerto plus works by Beethoven and Schumann. The concert opens with Beethoven’s EgmontOverture, which Maestro Butorac describes as “a microcosm of all the traits we love about the great composer — powerful, direct, full of contrast, and imbued with a revolutionary spirit.” Violinist Adele Anthony joins the orchestra for Mozart’s “Turkish” Violin Concerto. Since her triumph at Denmark’s 1996 Carl Nielsen International Violin Competition, Anthony has enjoyed an acclaimed and expanding international career. With intimate lyricism and blazing climaxes, Schumann’s Fourth Symphony concludes the evening.Learn more.
