We invite you to visit an unusual farm, unusual because it’s also the home and studio of a glass-blower and because your dinner is South African-inspired! As well, you’ll be surprised by this beautiful site – it commands views of the river and the majestic mountains and it’s only twelve minutes from downtown Asheville!

Scott Paly and his wife, Karen, (a native of South Africa,) welcome guests through the gated drive leading up to their stunning entrance. Walk across a bridge to the front door. Inside, you’ll find that the décor is hand-crafted with an artistic eye to include furniture glass and objets d’art created by Scott as well as by other artisans.

Drinks and appetizers will be served on the patio next to the “studio” just a few steps from the house. This is a building, functional in the extreme – it doubles as a storage structure for the farm and also as a studio for Scott’s creativity. Of course, we’ve allowed time to watch a demonstration of Scott’s glass-blowing prowess and to question him about his art.

Later, on our way to dinner, we’ll visit the picturesque Scottish Highland cattle grazing nearby. You may be interested in seeing the chickens and sheep too.

The buffet dinner will include Karen’s “Spice Kitchen” recipes for Butter Chicken as well as Bobotie, a traditional South African dish served over rice with accompanying sambals or side dishes, a salad and naan bread. You can expect delicious desserts as well.

Gorgeous glass, designer cows, and South African bobotie – this Feast has it all! When you reluctantly leave your delightful hosts at the end of your visit, there should be enough daylight left for you to enjoy once more the bucolic scenery as you wend your way home.
