A Word from our President

Published on December 11, 2023

As 2023 comes to an end, we reflect on the year gone by and realize there are so many successes to acknowledge.

Taste of Ukraine photoFirst and foremost, our Symphony has emerged from a venue crisis to a new location that has thrilled audiences with improved acoustical sounds and patron services. The concert programming has been outstanding, and attendance is approaching sell-out crowds for both matinee and evening performances. How very grateful we are for this extraordinary gift of special music in our lives!

The Guild has also experienced many successes and we so appreciate the support of our members. Our members provide support by volunteering for tasks, attending programs and musical feasts, by opening your homes/venues to host events, by serving in leadership roles and on committees.

The year kicked off with a well-attended potluck at the Governor’s Western Residence. This is a very popular event with members since it provides an opportunity to socialize with friends while enjoying the magnificent mountain view and delicious food.

The Guild hosted a meal for the musicians held after rehearsal for the opening concert of the new season.

Several very successful Musical Feasts have been held, raising much-needed funds for the Symphony.

Many positive comments have been received for the 14 Music in the Schools program that have been held thus far (with 12 still to go!). A popular percussion ensemble has been added this year. The program has received a grant for $1,250 with more grant money being sought to defray the costs of the program.

The Guild held two hugely successful programs. The star attraction of the presenters, Sally Keeney and Bryan Terrell Clark, may explain the large attendance at both events.

We so thank you for making all these things possible and are looking forward to more accomplishments in the coming year.

We wish you and your family and friends a very special holiday season.

Betty Fox

The TASTE of UKRAINE Musical Feast featured an authentic Ukrainian menu of absolutely delicious food.  The event was sold out but Sasha, the beloved Briedis cat, insisted on being included.  Many thanks to our hostess, Beverly Briedis, who thought of every detail to make it a perfect evening.
