Musical Feast: Chip Critiques Chopin
Sunday, January 21, 2018 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
$65.00Want to get out of the post-holiday doldrums? How about an inside look at a composer’s life along with some great food and witty commentary? If this appeals to you, come to Posana to view the 1945 Charles Vidor movie, A Song to Remember. Nominated for six Academy Awards and starring Cornel Wilde, Paul Muni, and Merle Oberon, it recounts the life of Frederic Chopin. Or, does it?…
Well, that’s why we’ve induced Chip Kaufmann to join us and lend his talents! Following the movie, Chip will set the record straight by reviewing both the film and Chopin’s life. If you know Chip from WCQS, from the Symphony Talks and from “Behind the Notes,” you will enjoy hearing him in still another setting.
Posana, a restaurant on historic Pack Square downtown, is one of the latest established by Executive Chef, Peter Pollay, and his wife, Martha. Having formed the Mandara Hospitality Group, Peter and Martha are involved in the explosion of new establishments catering to Asheville’s burgeoning tourist trade.
The restaurant specializes in high-quality foods in an excellent atmosphere with farm-to-table options that appeal to the Asheville taste. At this Feast, you’ll be offered choices from Posana’s elegant heavy hors d’oeuvres menu and a chance to relax with a glass of red or white wine.
If you’re not familiar with Chip’s vast knowledge of music and composers and his ready wit, here’s your chance to experience it. You will be delighted to discover this personality among us. Come join us!
