Thursday, February 1, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm
$125.00This feast offers some unique opportunities for hearing wonderful music as well as to have a special experience at Biltmore House. Here is your opportunity to have the first floor of Biltmore practically to yourself. Arrive at the Estate at 5:00 for a drive to the mansion where musicians from the Youth Orchestra will entertain and inspire you. Among those performing will be Elizabeth and Phoebe Propst, both of whom played one of the Bach movements with Midori during the Amadeus Festival last March.
After the performance, you are offered the opportunity to explore the first floor of the house at your leisure before departing at 6:30 for the lovely home of Doris and Ralph Loomis in Biltmore Forest. There you will partake of an elegant buffet complemented by wine and sparkling drinks.
But your musical entertainment is not over. So not only will there be a culinary feast but, taking advantage of the two grand pianos in the Loomis home, the music magic will continue with several performances.
Students of Karen Boyd, Dominic and Joseph Rajagopal, will perform a movement of the Mozart Sonata for two pianos. (Dominic won first place in the Advanced division of this year’s Asheville Area Piano Teachers’ competition.) Janeki Beharrysingh and her teacher, Polly Feitzinger, will play a Kahlau Sonatina and Tizah Baluch will delight us with works of Chopin and Mussorgsky. (Tizah won the Carolina Youth Symphony Concerto Competition.) Finally, Doris Loomis and Suzan Fehr, the teacher of both Doris and Tizah, will perform the Debussy Petite Suite for four hands
The evening will end with sumptuous desserts. This truly will be an unforgettable evening of both food and music – A MUSICAL FEAST.
