Musical Feast: Fall for Crafters Four
Saturday, October 7, 2017 @ 3:30 pm - 7:00 pm
$65.00Come spend a fine fall afternoon in Black Mountain in the woodworking studio of Allen Arcand where Allen has gathered together a group of highly respected artists to demonstrate and share their love of fine craft.
Begin the visit with a glass of wine or beer and appetizers. Then, at your leisure, wander the studio and learn what each artist does and how he/she goes about it.
Allen started wood-working as a hobby to build items for his family but ultimately realized that it had become a calling, as it were, and decided to use his God-given talent to build furniture as a career. Wait till you see what he has done to transform the kitchen of their 1950’s-era cottage.
Fred works in various media – wood, clay, original designs in wood combined with metal objects, glass, electronic components and so on. Particular specialties are his wooden greeting cards and whimsical caricatures painted on some of his wood creations.
Janet began her artistic career as a costumer for the opera but soon developed a special interest in jewelry design and construction. While opera remains an interest, it is in the past and jewelry design has become her true passion.
Jim, after a career as an engineer, discovered ceramic art and sculpting. Deriving inspiration from nature, his art is as diverse as the world around him. But you must come see for yourself.
When the studio tours are over, enjoy the fall foliage and mingle with fellow art lovers as the sun goes down. Weather permitting, you will dine alfresco in the pergola warmed by a fire in the fire pit – French onion soup, followed by pork tenderloin in fig sauce with a medley of fall roasted vegetables. Dessert will be warm apple crisp with ice cream, prepared and served by “McGills Homemade Caterer.” A lovely ending to a very interesting day!
