Musical Feast: Juilliard Jazzical
Saturday, March 24, 2018 @ 5:30 pm
$125.00Doris and Ralph Loomis are excited to offer you an opportunity for a particularly unique Feast next spring – a piano recital by a second year student of The Juilliard School, Henry Smolen by name. Henry is flying in for the night and will be offering an extensive repertoire of favorite and familiar classical pieces as well jazz impressions.
The Loomises and their cohosts plan a delectable feast for you to enjoy around the pianos in the music room. Suggestions to whet your appetite – pork tenderloin sliders, shrimp, bruschetta, cheese-covered olives, salmon deviled eggs – and, of course, wine and sparkling juices.
Henry, a Californian, has been studying piano since age three and gave his first recital when he was only five. A veteran of the concert stage, he has performed all over the country, making his orchestral debut at the age of eight with the El Camino Youth Symphony in Palo Alto. His performances include recitals at New York’s Carnegie Hall and at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, and he has participated in competitions across the country. A classical and jazz pianist, Henry spends his summers attending prestigious festivals such as Aspen Music Festival and Tanglewood and the Piano Master Class at Banff Centre.
Come join us in the Loomises’ incomparable Biltmore Forest home for this presentation (private address will be sent to attendees via email). Young Henry Smolen, now at the beginning of his career, is a star in the making and you Feasters will be able to claim acquaintance when he becomes a touring artist!
Menu: pork tenderloin sliders, shrimp, bruschetta, cheese-covered olives, salmon deviled eggs – and, of course, wine and sparkling juices.
