Musical Feast: Run for the Roses!

This is a Southern Tradition you will not want to miss! Witness the 144th Run for the Roses – “Derby Style” in the Biltmore Forest home of Barbra and Keith Love (private address will be sent to attendees via email). All the Race Day rules have been followed, and your hosts look forward to giving you an authentic Derby experience. You will arrive in time to place your bets and watch the pre-Derby highlights while you sip a Mint Julep and nibble on bourbon balls. Creativity is encouraged for entering the “Most Dramatic Hat Contest” that will include all participants. Stroll the spring gardens until Post Time when it is off to the races as we each cheer on our favorite horse or jockey! Tradition will prevail as all will join in the singing of “My Old Kentucky Home.” An authentic elegant Kentucky dinner buffet, made with recipes passed down from a bona fide Kentucky Colonel, will follow the race. What’s a Derby celebration without beaten biscuits, country ham and Benedictine? Yes, you will feel the bluegrass between your toes when you take a bite of Derby Pie topped with bourbon whipped cream. And you will leave the party with fond memories of the year you went to the Derby, right here in Asheville.
