“The Song Bird Sings” – Simone Vigilante Sings at Momentum Gallery
Sunday, March 29, 2020 @ 3:30 pm - 6:30 pm$60
Spend a lovely late afternoon looking at art and listening to Asheville‘s very own,
dynamic soprano Simone Vigilante, who will delight you with an array of lyrical Broadway melodies and beautifully soulful spirituals, along with a few symphonic favorites and a love aria or three. Delectable desserts and wine will top off the afternoon as you are treated to a brief discussion by well-known Momentum Gallery owner, Jordan Ahlers, about the art on display in his newly-opened space at 52 Broadway in downtown Asheville
Simone Vigilante is lauded as a “beautiful dramatic soprano capable of some awesome fireworks” [Asheville Citizen-Times]. She has appeared in recitals and competitions, with opera companies and orchestras, throughout the United States, France, Spain, Austria and Italy. Virginia McKnight, her collaborative pianist, has played with most of our musical organizations in Asheville.
Ms. Vigilante has lived in the Asheville area since 2001. She attended the Eastman School of Music, UNC School of the Arts, [BM], Indiana University Jacobs School of Music [MM]. She is the founding member of Opera Creations. Since 2003 she has sung numerous leading roles with Asheville Lyric Opera, from Mozart to Menotti, as well as musical theater roles such as Bloody Mary [South Pacific] and Mother Abbess [The Sound of Music]. Additional roles include Golda [Fiddler on the Roof] and Ruth in
Pirates of Penzance]. Recently, she performed with AmiciMusic: Go Tell It On the Mountain for Black History Month, Asheville Symphony chorus’ Mozart Requiem, and Handel’s Messiah [soprano soloist]
Come-let the magic of music and art put you in touch with the vitality of life. Simone likes to say, “Nurture the human spirit with music, let it transport you to that place where you feel, “I can, I can do that, I can be that.”
